01

Planning & Preparation

Before mobilization and dismantling, the team reviews equipment history and prepares all technical, logistical and safety requirements for the overhaul.

Equipment documentation
Previous maintenance records
Known defects
Overhaul scope
Spare-parts requirements
Tools and test equipment
Personnel and schedule
Safety requirements

02

Shutdown & Dismantling

Controlled shutdown and systematic dismantling of the turbine-generator unit, following established procedures and safety protocols.

Equipment isolation and LOTO
Initial condition recording
Coupling disconnection
Upper casing opening
Bearing dismantling
Valve/component dismantling
Rotor lifting/removal
Generator dismantling as required

Critical dimensions, clearances and equipment conditions are recorded throughout dismantling.

03

Inspection & Measurement

Comprehensive inspection and precision measurement of all major components. Findings at this stage determine the technical scope of repair and restoration work.

Steam Turbine

Rotor inspection
Blade inspection
Bearing inspection
Journal measurement
Steam seal and clearance measurement
Casing inspection
Coupling inspection
Valve inspection
NDT where required

Generator

Rotor and stator inspection
Bearing inspection
Air-gap measurement
Insulation/electrical testing
Excitation-related inspection
Other condition checks as required
Precision measurement during turbine inspection
04

Technical Assessment

Inspection findings and measurement results are evaluated against available OEM requirements, applicable technical standards, operating history and actual equipment condition.

INSPECT→MEASURE→ANALYZE→DECIDE

This engineering decision process ensures that repair scope is based on actual equipment condition and technical criteria, not assumptions.

Findings Classification

A

Acceptable

Within tolerance — no action required

B

Adjustment Required

Within repairable range — recalibrate or adjust

C

Repair Required

Damaged but restorable — execute repair procedure

D

Replacement Recommended

Beyond repair — source and replace component

05

Repair & Restoration

Execution of repair and restoration work based on technical assessment findings. All repair decisions are confirmed with the customer before proceeding.

Bearing repair/replacement
Steam seal adjustment/replacement
Blade repair where applicable
Rotor surface treatment
Valve restoration
Casing/component repair
Generator repair
Spare-parts replacement

Additional repair or replacement is based on technical evaluation and customer confirmation.

06

Reassembly & Alignment

Systematic reassembly with precise clearance adjustment and alignment. Every step follows technical specifications and verified measurement data.

Clearance adjustment
Bearing installation
Rotor positioning
Coupling alignment
Casing reassembly
Valve reassembly
Generator reassembly
Oil-system restoration
Final mechanical checks

Precision during reassembly is critical to reliable operation after overhaul.

07

Testing & Return to Service

The overhaul does not end at mechanical reassembly. A structured testing and commissioning sequence verifies that the unit is ready for reliable operation.

Oil circulation/flushing
Protection checks
Turning gear operation
Instrumentation verification
Excitation/AVR checks
No-load testing
Vibration monitoring
Synchronization
Load testing
Operating condition observation
Generator testing and commissioning

RETURN TO RELIABLE OPERATION

The overhaul is completed only after the unit has been properly tested and returned to stable operation.

Quality & Safety Throughout the Overhaul

Quality control and HSE/safety management are integrated into every stage from 01 to 07 — not as a separate step, but as continuous oversight.
